Welcome to Play Expert Poker!
This blog is intended to help amateur poker players learn to win at poker, by giving them a window into my daily battles on the green felt.
As a professional poker player I set out every day to play expert poker. I don’t always succeed. Not even the best players play well all the time. We all have weaknesses and failings. We are all continuously engaged in trying to improve our games, in exploring new strategies, and in fixing our leaks. I hope that by writing this blog, I will give myself extra motivation to play at my highest level at all times, and to continue working on my game every day.
If you read this blog, I can promise you that you will be reading about real poker hands played in real cash games and real tournaments, by an actual professional poker player. (Here’s more about me.) As you read about these hands, you will be learning how I think about poker, and learning the essential concepts and strategies I used to move beyond simply playing poker for enjoyment, to actually making poker my living.
You can read about my daily poker sessions on my blog page. You may notice that my posts are not written for beginners. They assume that you already possess a certain amount of poker knowledge and experience. For those beginners out there determined to plow right in, I have provided some tips on learning to play poker, and a glossary of common poker terminology to be updated as I go.
If you’re interested in a single form of poker in particular — No Limit Holdem, Limit Holdem or Pot Limit Omaha — or if you are interested in particular topics, such as Poker Tells, Value Bets or Inducing Bluffs, check out the links on either side of the page.
Thanks for reading, and good luck at the tables!
